SHAMAH: LIMITED EDITION MACHINES

Matt has begun work on a series of limited edition tattoo machines.  I believe he's only going to produce 33 of them. Make that 32 because I'm getting one from him as soon as they're finished.

MAN v.s BOOZE v.s BEAST

Confident with my brother in arm(brella)s, Sir Shamah and myself, along with our trusted Sherpa (that's a joke in reality Sherpas are not to be trifled with), ventured deep into the untamed wilds of the Osaka fashion district in search of the infamously lethal, although quite dead and taxidermic, storefront window lion.

Soon our precious supply of water (that we didnt actually bring) was exhausted and we were forced to resort to consuming copious quantities of whiskey (which was purchased at Family Mart in advance of our journey with the explicit purpose of getting wasted because the dead lion hunt is kind of boring unless one affords him or herself the opportunity of seeing two blurry versions of the beast simultaneously).

I shan't waste your time with a long winded self-aggrandizing account of the hunt.  Instead I leave you with this image of man and beast at the apex of the chase, moments before complete blackout...

It goes without saying (but occasionally it's worth stating) how fortunate I am to work with such a dedicated group of socially maladjusted creatives (including the guy behind the lens).

Thanks guys for flying halfway around the world to hang some pictures, sleep on floors, and scribble in a couple books.

PS... In the event of a futile water landing, and to ensure posthumous pioty, I forward dated this entry to post while flying 30,0000' above the Pacific.

YOUNG BLOOD

As it goes, Marcus has retired from ATAK. Godspeed. To fill the unforgiving emotional void left upon our golden boy's departure, we've initiated Scott into the ranks. Not a new face by any means, Scott has been around for years. I did a backpiece on him when he was barely legal and have since been steadily working on his bodysuit. He'll be around for awhile.

09SERIES2: HOODIES

We printed up a few hoodies from the latest limted apparel series. You'll never look as dangerously debonair as Matt does but they will help to keep you warm.

TOKYHOES

After doing Tokyo hotel (Tokyho) tatts all day Matt and I bought some whiskey and wandered around the streets of Tokyo, 2am and the streets were still packed. During our early morning stroll we added an "es" to the Tokyho phrase and ended up with "Tokyhoes". Got back to the room where Matt consumed a box of Special K with freeze dried strawberries. I was confused as to how smoking and simultaneously eating strawberry cereal could be appetizing but...

JP: FOOD, WORK, FRIENDS

Matt, Masa, and I bounced around JP on our way from Osaka to Tokyo. Eventually made it all the way up to Yokohama before scooting back down to Tokyo. Checked into a weekly hotel, ate, got drunk, wandered around, blacked out. Woke up and started tattooing (pine for the days when tattooing out of a hotel was no problem). Later in the evening we visited with friends and had some really amazing food. For the next five days we basically repeated the same daily routine before bouncing our way back to Osaka.













Met some new people and experienced a few entirely new tastes.

SLAP SHOT

Matt likes hockey. Goes without sayin' right? He collects some of the most random hockey inspired tattoos I've ever seen done. It doesnt matter what it is. From my slightly perplexed viewpoint, if you like hockey enough, maybe a third as much as he does, and if you can keep up with him on his cerebral escapades, he'll probably ask you to do a hockey inspired tattoo on him. Couple days ago Josh and Heather came by Analog. They're fun to hang out with. Talk about Dan tatt's n' stuff. Matt got the bug and asked Josh to trade hockey tattoos with him. Figure this one out...
